The Cool Planet Experience ( https://www.coolplanetexperience.org/ ) is the first public visitor centre on climate change in Ireland. The 'CPE' was founded by Crowley Carbon CEO, Norman Crowley and the role sits within the Crowley Carbon Company. We are located in Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow.
The ‘CPE’ is driven by the vision to educate, engage and inspire the public through an interactive experience on the impact of global warming and solutions they can embrace to help solve the problem. Open since March 2018, CPE also offers educational workshops, themed events for families and groups and corporate events.
We are looking for someone who will work closely with the CPE team who has supervisory experience in a visitor centre or customer services environment. The right person for this role must have a positive attitude, initiative and an eye for detail. Your goal is to ensure that the CPE runs smoothly and that visitors have a positive experience. You need to be able to multitask and deliver excellent customer service and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising all operational aspects of the visitor centre, including the gift shop, and staffing. You will also be delivering the services directly as dictated by the demands of the business. This role will report to the Business Development & Marketing Manager.
Daily supervision of operations and staff to ensure the CPE is running effectively and efficiently.
Providing leadership across all aspects of the Centre ensuring that at all times the Centre is running effectively and efficiently.
Ensuring that the highest level of customer service is delivered at all times by staff.
Supervising daily financial transactions:
Submitting payroll to the finance team weekly.
Managing cash, lodgements and card payment transactions and reporting.
Processing refunds/complimentary tickets etc
Stock management for the gift shop.
Ensuring compliance with health, safety and legal requirements.
Providing backup to Visitor Services staff - leading tours during busy periods and providing cover for groups and events as required.
Proven experience supervising operations in a visitor centre or customer services environment.
Excellent people management and customer service skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task to deadlines.
A self-starter who is motivated and resourceful, able to work on their own initiative and as part of a diverse team.
Flexible, friendly and good with people.
A full clean drivers license as some travel may be required at times.
Fluent English (spoken and written) is essential.
Experience in the operation of other visitor attractions
