Interactive, Hands-on, Inquiry Based Learning

The Cool Planet Experience education programme encourages young people to develop an understanding of the world around them and how to think critically about problems and solutions - key skills needed to address serious global issues such as climate change.

Our goal is to inspire 21st century problem-solvers, who see themselves as change-agents of tomorrow, designing innovative solutions towards a low carbon future. Our overarching approach is solution-focused and is in line with The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) suggested strategies to policymakers, education authorities and fellow scientists.

 Primary School Programme

The Cool Planet Experience tour and workshops programme directly links to the primary curriculum, with strong emphasis on cross-curricular learning opportunities. Workshops are designed to reinforce concepts introduced during the interactive tour. Students have the opportunity to work together to design innovative solutions towards a low carbon future.

Curriculum areas explored include: Science: Enables children to work scientifically, investigating and develop an understanding of local and wider environments. Geography: Enables children to make sense of their surroundings and the wider world. English: Develops emotional and imaginative life through oral language. SPHE: Supports children to become active and responsible citizens.

As an official SFI Discovery Centre, a visit to The Cool Planet Experience also acts a step towards achieving a Discover Primary Science and Maths award.
